2013 has seen the 3rd year of Art Stage Singapore (23 to 27 Jan), the most prominent local art fair. In terms of participating galleries and artworks in the show, the average quality this year is much better than 2012.
During the fair period, four auctions houses launched their auctions here – 33 Auction, Borobudur, Est Ouest (originally from Japan and first auction in Singapore) and Larasati.
Collectors have felt the heat at 33 Auction’s saleroom. From the result it seems that 33 Auction has risen to be a top player quickly although being the youngest local auction house.
For Modern and Contemporary Art session, 33 Auction has got only 68 lots and achieved sales of S$7,174,600, and Borobudur closed S$8,986,264 for 162 lots. Overall 33 Auction achieved a higher average price in saleroom, and nothing was sold for less than S$11,000.
